Overnight stay at Sørheim

Staying at Sørheim Fjordpanorama is a very special experience. The cabin is placed at Bergheim, at the very edge of the cliffs above Feigum. Here you can hear the roar of the mighty Feigefossen watherfall with its 218 meters of free fall.

Key information

- Top modern cabin with electricity, cold and hot water.

- Living room with kitchen, bathroom with shower and toilet.

- Upstairs, king size bed and possabilities for two extra beds.

- Large windows with spectacular views.

About the cabin:

The cabin has all the facilities of a luxury hotel room, but it’s based on self service. You will therefore find a fully equipped kitchen in our cabin. Although its small it contains refrigerator, combined oven and microwave oven, hobs, ventilator and dishwasher. It’s 23 square meters in first floor and the bedroom upstairs is 20 square meters. Upstairs the ceiling height is sloping from 2 meters in the front down to to1,15 meters at the back.

The bathroom has toilet, washbasin and shower with a view. Its tiled and has got underfloor heating.

The bedroom is located upstairs, and to get there you’ll have to climb a pretty steep ladder.

Since the cabin is located on a mountain-shelf, it of course gives you a spectacular view. But, it can also be dangerous to walk around on the edge towards the fjord. Families with small children need to consider this when booking a stay here. All traffic outside the cabin is at own risk. If you are very scared of heights, maybe this is not the place for you.

Getting up to the cabin from the fjord we follow a 2,5 kilometer long gravel-road, and at the cabin we are 350 meters over the fjord. We offer transport on the gravel-road for NOK 850,- (both ways) If you are fit and would like to hike that is of course an option.

How to get here

The address where the gravel road starts is:

Sørsidevegen 1316-1492

More about the cabin

There is only one cabin like this, and only one locatin like this. The cabin is drawn by the local arcitect Tone Berget based on ideas from the sheep farmer himself Thomas Sørheim Evjestad.
The interior, material and light plan is chosen by a local interior arcitect.
It has been emphasized througout the whole process to use local contractors and suppliers, knowing that the local contractors and suppliers possess the best knowledge and skill to build a sustainable high quality product in our environment.

The whole world to yourself

At Bergheim (350 masl) with its old and historical farms, you will be living alone and have the whole world to yourself. Our ancestors settled here 500 years ago, and in 1967 the last person to live here decided it was best to move to a larger farm by the fjord.
