The guides, Hallvard and Thomas Sørheim Evjestad, are two brothers who both are farmers at Sørheim. Thomas has around 50 sheep and works on the side as a carpenter. Hallvards farm is primarily a raspberry farm, but he also has a few cows.
From young age they both enjoyed all sorts of activities outside in the nature, skiing in the winter and hiking and fishing in the summer. Their love for nature and physical exercise led them to being cross country skiers at a high level, training and competing among the best in Norway. After a while they both longed back to having more freedom and time to spend in the nature and Thomas took over the family farm at Sørheim. A few years later Hallvard was lucky enough to be able to buy the farm Leri/Urdal, so now they are both farmers at Sørheim. They are both very passionate about their jobs as farmers, with a clear ambition about using as much as possible of their farms resources in a sustainable way. This means for instance to have their animals grassing in the mountains during the summer, which also lets them combine their work with spending time in the nature.
Very few people know the mountains around Sørheim as well as Thomas and Hallvard, and even though the landscape here is wild and magnificent, you will be in safe hands with one of these as your guide.
